Giving Tuesday with ColArt and LOTS of paint chips!
This year we had the pleasure of spending Giving Tuesday with our good friends from Colart, the manufacturer of iconic artist's materials like Liquitex paint, Winsor & Newton watercolors and Arches fine French watercolor paper. London-based ColArt is our newest corporate partner donating art supplies to severely under funded schools.
The entire administrative staff from their American headquarters held a work day in our studio and sorted 336,600 (yes, we counted them!!) obsolete Behr Paint color chips into art making kits that we distribute free to schools across the country.
After a tour of Fresh Artists print studio and a slide show describing our mission and programs, the crew got right down to work separating boxes of mixed colors into art kits perfect for making brilliant paper mosaics.
The 12 ColArt volunteers worked all day and created 532 kits that will impact approximately 106,400 children!
Our heartfelt thanks to Theresa Kuiken, head of ColArt USA. Mahogany Ligon and Jennifer Simon treated us all to a lovely picnic lunch. We all had lots of fun and enjoyed making new friends while working on a meaningful project. Fresh Artists hopes this will become an annual tradition!
