Artists, makers and friends gathered in East Falls to celebrate the succesful launch of COOL JOBS, our most ambitious enterprise to date. The evening included lots of surprises, much celebrating and major thanks to the Knight Foundation and A.C. Moore.

Cool Jobs Sneak Peak Gala

The Sneak Peek was held on the first night of Cool Jobs. Guests were treated to a slide show of presenters and kids in action from earlier in the day.  Guests were also able to stroll through the space and meet artists and designers at their kiosks. The formal program included comments from Jane Pauley of CBS Sunday Morning, delivered by video; designer Kevin Lyons; Philadelphia City Councilwoman Helen Gym, a leading advocate for public education; and the President of the National Art Educators Association.

Generous Sponsors

The Knight Foundation and the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture & the Creative Economy were founding partners of COOL JOBS. Presenting sponsors were A.C. Moore and Visual Magnetics. Supporting sponsors are Berkley Public Entities, The Nana Fund, Beyond Insurance, Behr Paint, Event Navigators, Brulee Catering, and Mutoh of America. Refreshment sponsors are One Village Coffee and Sazerac Company.

A surprise highlight

Just before the formal program got underway, Elena Piperno, of A.C. Moore, presented Barbara with a check for $117,000 -- the result of a month's worth of promotion in their stores on our behalf.  The large check given to Barbara drew loud applause from the crowd!
